Bulgaria has named a street "Nomad Place 1" in an effort to attract more digital nomads.

The decision, taken by the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with the Beliya Municipality, aims to recognize digital nomads who have transformed the ski resort into a hub for remote workers from around the world..

According to Traveling Lifestyle, the street is named after a place where digital nomads live together called Coliving Semkovo. This place is located at «Nomad Place 1.

This new effort demonstrates Sofia's commitment to implementing innovative tourism strategies and embracing the growing trend of digital nomadism. The street renaming marks a significant step in transforming the world of remote travel.

The Digital Nomad visa allows foreigners to legally live in the country and work remotely for companies or businesses located outside the country.

Despite Bulgaria attracting a significant number of remote workers, it does not have a digital nomad visa.

However, Bulgaria is part of the EU; therefore, digital nomads residing in any EU country are allowed to enter and reside in the country for up to three months without any visa requirements.

At the same time, remote workers from non-EU countries are eligible to apply for a Bulgarian freelance visa, which is an alternative to the digital nomad visa.

Bulgarian authorities allowed entry to citizens of non-EU countries who wanted to work or reside in the country as freelancers or to conduct business back in 2017.

This visa is valid for one year, but can be extended.

In addition, digital nomads from non-EU countries have the right to apply for tourist visas or type C visas, among other things.

Those planning to extend their stay in Sofia for more than 90 days are eligible to apply for a D visa, which is the closest permit to a digital nomad visa.
